Last days of school
They promised to be
in touch
None would change
They had thought
And none could stop
crying
When the final day
passed
A few years down
Not many now in touch
Not many could remain
As pure as they were
He wondered what went
wrong
How the promises
weren’t kept
This wasn’t meant to
happen
He murmured to
himself
A few more years
passed
A few more friends
lost
Some so dear
That he couldn’t cope
up
What really happened
He kept thinking
The promise made
All those years ago
Was is a farce or
reality
His thoughts began to
dwindle
Change is what he
didn’t do
As he had promised
them
Then why did they
leave
That is all he could
ask
Change, he wondered
What did he miss
Or was it that
He actually changed
“Everyone changes”
He heard a voice
I tried at least..
